Barblina Meierhans creates works in the disciplines of composition, music theatre and installations, with a preference for sitespecific and spatially related projects. She is also involved in various small ensembles for chamber music, improvisation and performance art. Barblina Meierhans studied violin, viola, experimental musictheatre and transdisciplinarity at Zurich University of the Arts and Bern University of the Arts. She has been inspired in her composition work by people such as Georges Aperghis, Xavier Dayer, Daniel Weissberg und Franz Martin Olbrisch. She completed the master class in composition given by Professor Manos Tsangaris and Professor Mark Andre at Dresden University of Music. In 2010, she was awarded the Canton of Bern’s Trächsel scholarship BEST; in 2011 she was scholarship-holder at the NAIRS Contemporary Art Center; in 2012 she got a three-month residency in the Rome, studio owned by the Canton of St. Gallen and in 2013 the studio residency in Bangalore and New Delhi by Pro Helvetia; in 2015 she was holder of the City of Zurich’s Foreign Studio Scholarship Berlin (Auslandatelier-Stipendium Berlin).
